Presidential Search

August 11, 2008

The Seton High School Presidential Search Committee has been busy this summer. After securing the assistance of the search firm, DHR International and their representatives Joe Hale and Matt Wilke, a position description was developed that clearly defines the requirements for Seton's next President.  A copy of this position description is posted on Seton's website.

Joe and Matt have contacted nearly 200 prospects and sources for the job.  From these contacts, a handful of prospective candidates have emerged, although the sourcing of candidates continues.

It is anticipated that a first round of interviews will commence this fall.  The Committee hopes to have a new President selected by the beginning of 2009.  The start date for the President will be July 1, 2009.

The Search Committee asks for the prayers of the entire Seton High School Community to guide their efforts in recommending the finest new leader for Seton High School.

Seton High School, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, is an all-girls, Catholic, college prep/comprehensive secondary school. Located in Price Hill, on the western side of Cincinnati, Seton has been an anchor institution in the community since 1927. Seton currently serves an economically, culturally, and ethnically diverse population of approximately 550 young women.

Thanks to the leadership of the Sisters of Charity and the support of the school’s alumnae and friends, Seton High School completed a $13.5 million construction and renovation project in 2006. The capital improvements included the construction of an on-campus garage, a new state-or-the-art gym and significant improvements to the school’s science, art, and music facilities. Seton High School’s physical plant is first class. In addition, the gift of an anonymous donor in 2007 funded substantial technology upgrades in all classrooms. A Tablet PC program serving Seton’s freshmen and sophomores will begin in the fall of 2008.

A newly expanded curriculum which includes more opportunities for honors classes, and advanced work in the sciences and fine arts is already paying dividends for Seton students. More than half the 128 seniors in the Class of 2008 received scholarships or awards totaling over $5.8 million. Those scholarships and awards included admission to such colleges as Purdue University, Loyola University of Chicago, Marquette University, and St. Louis University.

Seton provides an array of community service, athletic and co-curricular opportunities for students. In 2008, for example, students involved in Seton’s community service program helped build two Habitat for Humanity homes, served as Big Sisters to disadvantaged youngsters at the ESPY Boys and Girls Club in Price Hill, visited the sick and elderly at Veterans Nursing Home, volunteered at Our Daily Bread soup kitchen, and transported supplies for soldiers to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center. Seton fields teams in 12 varsity sports and students participate in more than 30 clubs and organizations. One of the most popular is the Seton/Elder Performance Series, a fine arts tradition on Cincinnati’s West Side since 1970.

Seton High School also functions as a community resource hub for its neighbors in Lower Price Hill, East Price Hill and West Price Hill. Health Fairs for women, Back-to-School Fairs, and remedial classes for elementary-aged students are held on the Seton campus. The Seton Performance Hall is home to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra, and Seton hosts civic events like the kick-off ceremonies for Price Hill Will’s Christmas on the Hill.
