World Languages
Course Descriptions
Seton students may choose from Spanish, French, Latin or German. Students will first learn basic vocabulary in whatever language they choose and then as they continue in their studies, will learn the conversational style of their particular language. All foreign language students have the opportunity to belong to a language club. 
Mrs. Laurel Hafertepen (French) Mrs. Hafertepen is the chairperson of the world language department. She teaches French 1, 2, 3 and 4. She has a bachelor’s degree from Rosary College and a master’s degree from Miami University. After graduating from Rosary College, she spent a year in France as an au-pair for a French family. Also, she has taken students to France on 9 different occasions and has traveled to Montreal and Quebec.
Sister Mary Dolores Schneider, S.C. (Latin)  Sister is a member of the English Department as well as the Foreign Language Department. Currently, she teaches Latin and English I. She has 43 years of teaching experience in Dayton, Detroit, South Holland, Illinois and in Cincinnati. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Loyola College and the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Sister Mary Dolores is from Detroit, Michigan.
Mrs. Paula Giovanetti (Spanish) Mrs.Paula Giovanetti earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish at Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, IL. She studied in Madrid, Spain, through St. Louis University during her college experience. As a faculty member at Seton, Mrs. Giovanetti received training on verbal and written whole language instruction through the College Board. She has taught Spanish I,III and IV since joining the Seton family in 1993, along with participating in an educational tour to Madrid and Paris with students and colleague Mrs. Sandy Crush. Presently, Mrs. Giovanetti is teaching third and fourth year Spanish.
