Honor Societies

Seton offers three honor societies:

National Honor Society (NHS)
Juniors and seniors who are academically ranked within the top twenty five of their class are eligible for membership.  The Seton chapter of NHS assists the Hoxworth center in operating the Blood Drive in the Fall and Spring. Students volunteer to tutor based upon their academic interest and are required to perform three hours of community service every month.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)
"Art Scholarship, Character and Service" is the NAHS motto, and members of this group are chosen by the Art teachers.  Art 3 and Art 4 students with an A average are eligible. Activities focus on service through Art – from murals in the community to face painting at events. Past mural projects include Hillebrand Home Health, Our Daily Bread, Peaslee Neighborhood Center, and the Homeless Coalition.

National Latin Honor Society

The eligibility to belong to the National Latin Honor Society includes the following:

  • Enrollment in a Latin class at Seton High School (or Elder if course conflict);
  • Maintaining a 90 average on Edline through April 15;
  • Completion of extra credit translations (100-word translations from text);
  • Completion of daily exercises and assignments
  • Participation in the Classics Fair held during Catholic Schools Week

All Latin students take the National Latin exam in March. Induction and award based on the Latin Exam will be presented to students on Latin Day.  Seniors who were 4 year members will receive a maroon and gold cord (the colors of the American Classical League) at the Senior Honors and Awards Program for graduation.

Twenty-two juniors and seniors were recently inducted into the National Art Honor Society.  These students excel in  the area of art and are dedicated to sharing their talent with the community.

Nineteen students recently qualified for membership in the National Latin Honor Society.  Six of these young women are four year members of the honor society.
