Tribute Concert

Tribute Concert Recognizes Anniversaries, Renews Friendships
October marked two milestones at Seton: the bicentennial of the founding of the Sisters of Charity in North America by our patroness, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and the 40th anniversary of the Seton-Elder Performing Arts Series.

Given St. Elizabeth's love of music and theatre, a tribute to the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber was a perfect fit! Broadway stars and former Series performers Robert Dusold, Marilyn Kay Huelsman and Tom Hafner returned to our newly renovated auditorium, and Sisters of Charity, alumnae and friends gathered for President's Receptions prior to each concert in the Commons.

Alumna Kathryn Ann Connelly, S.C., former Seton principal, superintendant of schools and board of trustees chairwoman, and Patricia Cruise, S.C., Seton president, join Barbara Hagedorn, S.C., president of the Sisters of Charity and Seton alumna, and many Sisters from the order to celebrate the founding and sing "Happy Birthday!"

The Class of '78 had the most members in the Alumnae Chorus: Barb Gomien Peterson, Karen Riser Jones, Katie Welch Meese, Robyn Wood Rubemeyer, and Becky Hartfield Rogers, with Tim Meier, an Elder alum.

Special thanks to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra, Conductor Dave Allen, Alumni Chorus directed by Maribeth Samoya, and Emcee and WLW radio star, Brian Combs.
