About Seton

Seton is proud of its exceptional learning environment that is rooted in the Catholic faith.  Seton High School offers a comprehensive college-prep curriculum with classes to fit any kind of learner.  From our 15 Advanced Placement classes to various honors courses, we offer a challenging curriculum for the most advanced students.  Seton also offers a unique, holistic Student Services program to help students build time management, organizational and test taking skills.

Seton is committed to a forward-thinking learning experience.  This commitment begins by putting the latest technology at our students' fingertips.  Each Seton student is issued a Tablet PC at the beginning of her freshman year.  At that time, she receives training in the best practices to use and maintain her computer.  Each Tablet PC is able to connect to the Internet on Seton's wireless campus and through any home Internet connection.

Strength of Performance
Seton understands learning is only part of the high school experience.  Seton athletes compete in a gymnasium with a regulation-size court and a video scoreboard.  They make sure they are at the top of their game with practice facilities and a weight room.  Seton's best performance talent regularly takes the stage in our 1,000-seat Performance Theatre.  The theatre is home to the Seton-Elder Performance Series and the Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra.  Our dedicated art wing allows students to explore their talent in photography, drawing, painting and much more.

The Seton Crest
Like Seton High School, its crest has a rich past. The crosses are from the crest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, and the plowshare represents the City of Cincinnati named after the Society of Cincinnati from Cincinnatus, the Roman farmer who became the famous general of Rome.

The cedar tree symbolizes Cedar Grove, which was the name of the academy established on this site in 1857. The school was renamed "Seton High School" in 1928.

The wavy bars suggest the Ohio River and the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity at Mount St. Joseph-on-the-Ohio.

The three crescents are derived from the Seton Family Coat of Arms.

Seton's motto is "Hazard Yet Forward".
